Link Placement Checker
A free Chrome add-on for checking that a guest-post link is actually on the live page, and where it sits.
Link Placement Checker is a free Chrome add-on for anyone who has to prove a guest post went live. You open the article, type the domains you care about, and it lists each matching link with its anchor text, whether the rel is dofollow, nofollow, sponsored, or ugc, and whether the link sits in the article or in the navigation, sidebar, or footer. It also flags a noindex meta tag and a canonical that points somewhere else. The check does not upload the page.
Who it is for
Outreach managers, editors, and site owners use it when a guest post was promised and someone has to show the link is on the published URL. It is also the check when a partner says the mention is in the article and you want to see whether it landed in a sitewide footer or a nav template instead. You do not paste the HTML into this website.
What it checks
Open the live article in Chrome, then enter one or more domains. The extension reads the links already loaded in that tab and keeps the ones whose address points at those domains. For each match it shows the anchor text, the rel value, and a placement note. A link with no nofollow, sponsored, or ugc token is reported as dofollow. Navigation, sidebar, and footer are separated from the article body, which is the distinction that matters when the agreement was for an in-content link.
Two page-level flags sit beside the link list. A noindex meta tag means the page is asking crawlers not to index it, so a backlink there is a weak thing to rely on. A canonical that points at a different URL means search engines may treat another address as the main copy of the article. Both are visible in the tab you already have open; neither requires a crawl of the rest of the site.
Limits
The extension does not confirm that Google has indexed the URL, that the link passes ranking credit, or that a search engine will honour the rel attributes. Placement is inferred from where the element sits in the document, not from a screenshot of every theme. The check stays on your machine: the page is not uploaded to ToolsFreeHub or to any other scanner.
