How to use
- Turn all three A4 pages by 90 degrees when you want every rotation flag at 90.
- Turn only page 1 by 180 when pages 2 and 3 should stay at 0.
- Remember the angle adds to a rotation the file already had.
Formula / how it works
All three pages of report-a4-3pages.pdf, turned 90 degrees clockwise, keep a page count of 3 and a width of 595.28 points. The rotation flag on each page is 90. Turning only page 1 by 180 leaves pages 2 and 3 at 0 and page 1 at 180. The content stream is not redrawn. The text operator is still in the file. A reader that honours the rotation flag shows the page on its side or upside down. A reader that ignores the flag would be wrong, and the flag is what this page writes.
The angle is added to whatever rotation the page already had. These samples started at 0. A page that was already at 90, plus another 90, lands at 180. The menu only offers 90, 180 and 270. A free-typed 45 is not a choice, because PDF rotation is quarter-turns.
Pages you leave out of the box stay as they were. The box accepts all, a single page, or a range. A page number past the end stops the run. A password stops it earlier. The download is still a PDF, not three JPEGs. If you wanted a picture of the sideways page, render it after the rotation, on the PNG or JPG page.
The three flags after a 90 degree turn of every page are 90, 90 and 90. The three flags after a 180 degree turn of page 1 only are 180, 0 and 0. The stored page width stays 595.28 points. A viewer applies the flag when it displays the page. The letters were not painted into a new JPEG, which is why a later text extract can still find them. Quarter turns only: 45 degrees is not on the menu.
A second 90 degree pass on a page that is already at 90 lands at 180. The samples started from 0, so the arithmetic is the angle you picked and nothing more. The download stayed a PDF of three pages. Rendering that PDF to PNG afterwards would bake the turn into pixels. This button does not do that bake.
