It is not a live roster, not a ranking, and not connected to any league. Teams change. This list does not try to follow them.
How to use
- Type a seed and how many names, from 1 to 5.
- Press Pick. The position word is guard, forward or centre.
- Reset restores two names from the seed court.
Formula / how it works
What is stored. Each entry is a name and one position word. There is no team, no year, and no statistic. Stephen Curry and Magic Johnson and Sue Bird are guards on this list. LeBron James, Maya Moore, Tim Duncan, Sheryl Swoopes, Kevin Durant and Breanna Stewart are forwards. Shaquille O'Neal and Lisa Leslie are centres. The words are the ordinary broad positions, not a specific role in a specific offence. Bench, one name, is Maya Moore, forward. A different seed walks the same twelve in a different order. Names are not repeated in one press.
Why there is no team. A team next to a name goes stale, and a stale team is a false fact. A position word ages more slowly and is still only a label. If you need who plays where this week, use a source that updates. This draw is for a quiz or a prompt where the names must match later. The flag generator is the same shape of tool for countries. Neither tool claims to be an official list.
The seed is the whole memory. There is no account. Court and 2 always rebuild those two guards in that order. Change the spelling of the seed and you have a new sequence. Five is the maximum in one press. The list has twelve, so five does not empty it.
Positions are the broad words guard, forward and centre. They are not a season’s starting five and they are not a claim about who is employed this week. A reader who needs a current roster should use a league site. This list is for a quiz, a writing prompt, or a seeded draw where the names have to match next Tuesday. Spelling is part of the seed contract: Curry is spelled as on the list, and a typo in the seed changes the draw even when you meant the same word.
Use the position word as a hint, not as a biography. A guard on this list may have played more than one role in a career, and the single word is the one this sample stored. If a debate starts about the word, the debate is about basketball, and this page will not settle it. The draw is useful when you need a name fast and you need the same name tomorrow. It is useless as a measure of who is better. There is no score, no award and no order except the seed’s order. Read the disclaimer line in the result if you are about to paste the names into an article that sounds official.
Worked examples
Two names from court

Leave the seed as court and how many as 2, then press Pick. Diana Taurasi is first.
Result: Seed: court
Count: 2
1. Diana Taurasi, guard
2. Stephen Curry, guard
A fixed sample of well-known players and a position. Not a live roster, not a ranking, and not affiliated with any league.
One name from bench
Inputs: Seed: bench | How many: 1
Change the seed to bench and how many to 1, then press Pick. The row is Maya Moore, forward.
Result: Seed: bench
Count: 1
1. Maya Moore, forward
A fixed sample of well-known players and a position. Not a live roster, not a ranking, and not affiliated with any league.
Use cases
- A quiz that has to use the same two names next class.
- A writing prompt that should not depend on this week’s transactions.
- Showing that a seed fixes a draw from a short list.
- A position label without a team claim.
Tips & limitations
- Do not cite a team from this page. There is no team.
- Match the seed and the count.
- Five is the most in one press.
- The list is twelve people, not a league.
FAQ
Is this an official roster?
No. Twelve names and a position word. No teams and no ranking.
Why is there no team?
Teams change. A team on this page would become a false fact. The position word is the stable label.
Can I get the same names again?
Yes. Court and 2 are Diana Taurasi then Stephen Curry.
Are names repeated in one press?
No. A name leaves the pool after it is picked.
Is the list only men’s basketball?
No. The sample includes players from the men’s and women’s games.
Is the seed uploaded?
No. The draw runs in the browser.
Runs entirely in your browser; your text is not uploaded. Counts and scores are heuristics, so review the output before you publish it.
