The spaced and dotted rows are ordinary letters. They cannot turn into empty boxes. The bold row can, on a font that has no glyph for those characters. The page says so under the result.
How to use
- Type a short word or phrase, up to 80 characters.
- Press Style and compare the four rows.
- Copy the row that still reads on your own screen. Reset restores soft.
Formula / how it works
What “aesthetic” is doing here. It is not a typeface file and it is not a filter on a photo. Spaced puts a normal space between every character and lower-cases the line, which is the wide look people paste into a status. Dotted uses a middle dot, U+00B7, which has been in fonts for decades. Hearts use the white heart ♡, also an old dingbat, around the lower-cased words. Bold swaps in the mathematical bold alphabet. The fancy text generator adds script and fraktur if you want those. This page keeps the set small so you can see the safe rows and the risky row together. The Twitter fonts generator counts the same kind of line against 280 characters.
Why lower case on three rows. The wide and dotted looks are usually set in small letters. “Soft” becomes “s o f t”, not “S O F T”. Bold keeps the case you typed, because bold capitals and bold small letters are different characters. If you need the case changed and nothing else, the case stays your job on the bold row.
Boxes. A box is a missing glyph, not a broken conversion. The character was produced. The font drawing the page does not contain a picture for it. Linux desktops, in particular, often ship a text font that covers Latin and not the mathematical alphabets. Copy the spaced or dotted row when that happens. Those rows are the letters you typed, rearranged. They will look the same in a game, a form and a terminal.
Length and search. Eighty characters is the cap. A paragraph with a space between every letter is unreadable and painful to select. Styled bold letters are also poor search keys: a search for “soft” does not find the mathematical bold spelling. Keep a plain copy if the words need to be found later.
What it will not decorate. Emoji stay emoji. Accents stay accents on the spaced and dotted rows, sitting between the separators. The tool does not pick a colour, a background or an animation. Aesthetic, on this page, is the arrangement of the characters.
Hearts and the middle dot. The white heart is a dingbat from a block that desktop fonts have carried for years. It is not the colourful emoji heart, so it usually stays one colour, the colour of the text. The middle dot is a punctuation mark, not a bullet from a word processor. Both can still be rejected by a login field that allows only letters. They are there for a caption, where punctuation is allowed and a missing mathematical glyph is not.
Worked examples
A four-letter word
Inputs: Text: soft
Leave the text as soft and press Style. The spaced row is ordinary letters with gaps.
Result: Spaced: s o f t
Dotted: s·o·f·t
Hearts: ♡ soft ♡
Bold: 𝐬𝐨𝐟𝐭
Spaced and dotted rows use ordinary letters. If the bold row shows a box, the font has no glyph for that character.
Two letters, case kept on the bold row
Inputs: Text: Hi
Change the text to Hi and press Style. Spaced and dotted lower the case. Bold keeps the capital H.
Result: Spaced: h i
Dotted: h·i
Hearts: ♡ hi ♡
Bold: 𝐇𝐢
Spaced and dotted rows use ordinary letters. If the bold row shows a box, the font has no glyph for that character.
Use cases
- A bio line that has to survive a thin system font.
- Comparing a dotted word with a spaced word before you paste.
- Seeing whether bold survives on the device you are using.
- Keeping a plain-letter option next to a heavier one.
Tips & limitations
- Copy the spaced row if any other row shows a box.
- Do not search for the bold spelling later.
- Keep the line short. Spaces double the length.
- Use the Twitter page when the 280-character count matters.
FAQ
Does this install a font?
No. Three rows rearrange or wrap the letters you typed. The bold row substitutes other Unicode letters.
Why did bold turn into boxes?
The font has no picture for those code points. The spaced and dotted rows are the fallback, and they use ordinary letters.
Why is the spaced row lower case?
That is the usual wide look. Bold keeps the capitals you typed.
Will a middle dot paste everywhere?
Almost everywhere. It is a long-standard character. A few login fields still allow only plain letters, and they will reject it along with the spaces.
Can I use this as a username?
Often no. Usernames reject spaces and symbols. Use the plain spelling for the login.
Is the word uploaded?
No. The four rows are built in the browser.
Runs entirely in your browser; your text is not uploaded. Counts and scores are heuristics, so review the output before you publish it.
