FAQs

What is Keep a Changelog?

It is a popular convention for changelog files: a human-readable list of notable changes per release, grouped under headings like Added, Changed and Fixed.

Can I add my own categories?

This generator covers the three most common categories. For extras like Security or Deprecated, add those sections to the markdown after copying.

Do I need all three sections?

No. Leave any section empty and it is left out of the generated file automatically.

Where should the changelog live?

Conventionally in a CHANGELOG.md file in the root of your repository, next to the readme.

Is my data sent anywhere?

No. Everything runs entirely in your browser and never transmits or saves your entries.
