FAQs
Is it safe to paste real secrets here?
No. Never paste real secret values into any web page. Use the placeholder values from this generator and put real secrets into a proper secrets manager or your hosting provider’s secret store.
Should I commit the .env file to git?
No. Add .env to your .gitignore and commit only a .env.example with placeholder values.
What format do the values use?
Plain KEY=value lines. If a value contains spaces, wrap it in quotes, for example: APP_NAME=”My App”.
Can I add my own variables?
Yes — type them one per line in the custom variables box as NAME=value.
Is my data sent anywhere?
No. Everything runs entirely in your browser and never transmits or saves your entries.
