FAQs
What counts as a paragraph?
Any block of text separated by a blank line. Single line breaks within a block do not start a new paragraph — only a blank line does.
How are sentences counted?
Sentences are detected by their ending punctuation: full stops, exclamation marks and question marks. Abbreviations like “e.g.” may occasionally be miscounted.
Is my text sent to a server?
No. The counter runs entirely in your browser with JavaScript, so your text never leaves your device.
Why would I need a paragraph count?
Teachers and editors often set paragraph requirements for essays, and content briefs may ask for a certain number of paragraphs — this tool checks your work in seconds.
Do blank lines count as paragraphs?
No. Empty blocks are ignored, so extra blank lines will not inflate your paragraph count.
