Tip: run a speed test first and use your real download speed — advertised speeds are often higher than what you actually get.

How to Use

  1. Enter the size of the file you want to download.
  2. Choose the matching size unit — KB, MB, GB or TB.
  3. Enter your download speed and pick its unit — Kbps, Mbps or Gbps.
  4. Read your estimated download time instantly — it updates as you type.

Key Features

  • Instant results — the estimate recalculates live as you type.
  • Supports KB, MB, GB and TB file sizes with Kbps, Mbps and Gbps speeds.
  • Human-friendly time format, from seconds up to days.
  • Shows the equivalent file size in MB and your effective speed in MB/s.
  • Private by design — everything runs in your browser, nothing is uploaded.

FAQs

Why does my download take longer than the estimate?

The calculator assumes a perfectly steady speed. In practice, network congestion, Wi-Fi interference, server limits and other devices on your network can all slow things down.

What is the difference between Mbps and MB/s?

Internet speeds are advertised in megabits per second (Mbps), while file sizes are measured in megabytes (MB). There are 8 bits in a byte, so a 50 Mbps connection downloads at about 6.25 MB/s. The calculator converts between the two automatically.

Does it work for uploads too?

Yes — the maths is identical. Just enter your upload speed instead of your download speed to estimate how long an upload will take.

Is my data sent anywhere?

No. The calculation happens entirely in your browser, so nothing you enter ever leaves your device.
